PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging method in which an image can be formed while suppressing unevenness of streak in the main scanning direction and dealing with variation of resolution. SOLUTION: At the time of recording with a specified resolution, a recording medium is wound while being inclined such that the main scanning line becomes parallel with the opposite sides of the recording medium extending along the winding direction to a rotary drum. An image is formed by shifting image data by a specified number of pixels in the direction reverse to the shifting direction every time when a main scanning line being recorded on the recording medium is shifted by the specified number of pixels from a main scanning line being recorded at a specified resolution.
