METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATING CALIBRATION OF I/O LINE OVER MULTI-VARIABLE EYE WINDOW

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for automating calibration of an I/O line over a multi-variable eye window are provided to optimize the I/O line and invest the margin characterization of the I/O line by automating the calibration of the I/O line through the multi-variable eye window. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter(12A) transmits data to a receiver(12B) of an IC(Integrated Circuit)(10B) over a plurality of I/O lines. The data transmissions are conducted according to certain parameters or sets of parameters, which include voltage levels at which signals are transmitted or timing delays. The receiver(12B) determines whether a correct data value was received over each I/O line. The results are recorded in a table(20) of the IC(10B). The table(20), for each I/O line, stores a pass/fail result corresponding to the particular parameters for the data transmission. A system selects the parameters with which subsequent transmissions are to be conducted over each of the plurality of I/O lines from the table(20).
