PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a defect that even when infrared radiation is situated approximately at the central part of the top surface of a heating chamber, its temperature detecting range cannot be widened, and a position to place a food is regulated. SOLUTION: A heating cooking apparatus comprises a magnetron to heat a food in a heating chamber 2; and an infrared ray sensor 22 to detect infrared rays emitted from a food, and is provided with a temperature detecting part to detect a food temperature, and a control unit to control drive of the magnetron based on a detecting temperature by the temperature detecting part. The infrared ray sensor 22 is constituted that a plurality of infrared arrays are two-dimensionally situated. Further, the heating chamber 2 detecting hole 21 through which infrared rays in the heating chamber 2 are detected by the infrared ray sensor 22 is situated in the vicinity of a corner 19 formed by a top surface 9 and a side surface 8.
