PURPOSE: An apparatus for clipping the edge part of strip in strip welding machine is provided to prevent catching in the postprocess after welding and strip fracture of the welding part by cutting the edge part of the front end of a following strip on the basis of width of a preceding strip before strip welding operation in the welding machine. CONSTITUTION: In a welding machine for welding the preceding and following strips by clamping preceding and following strips(4a,4b) at inlet and outlet clamps(10,20), the apparatus for clipping the edge part of strip in the strip welding machine comprises a clamp cutting part comprising upper and lower frames(31,32) which are installed at the inlet clamp(10) in a width direction of the strip, and upper and lower knives(35a,35b,36a,36b) which are installed at both ends of upper and lower clamps(33a,33b,34a,34b) that are assembled with the upper and lower frames(31,32) in such a way that the upper and lower clamps(33a,33b,34a,34b) are slidingly moved side to side, wherein the clamp cutting part cuts both edges of the front end part of the following strip(4a) that is advanced between the upper and lower clamps(33a,33b,34a,34b); and a driving part comprising first cylinders(51) for ascending or descending the upper frame(31) for the lower frame(32), and a plural upper and lower cylinders(55a,55b,56a,56b) for slidingly moving the upper and lower clamps(33a,33b,34a,34b) side to side in a width direction of the strip, wherein the driving part adjusts the upper and lower clamps(33a,33b,34a,34b) correspondingly to the size of width of the preceding strip(4b).
