PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic latent image developing toner as a so- called polymerization toner which does not contaminate a fixing device even for long-term use for contact-type thermal fixing and which can form stable images for a long time and to provide a method for forming an image by using the toner. SOLUTION: In the electrostatic latent image developing toner having 3 to 8μm volume average particle size and at least consisting of a coloring agent and a resin prepared by polymerizing radical polymerizable monomers in a water-based medium, the proportion of aromatic amines in the toner is <=50 ppm.
