PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing image data for an ink-jet printer by which overflowing of an ink can be suppressed by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: When the overflowing of the ink as a medium is concerned in accordance with the image data inputted and characteristics of a medium forming an image, a mask calculating circuit 102 prepares recording mask data and forcibly forms an ink discharging region where amount of the ink is set to a specified value in order to restrict the amount of discharged ink at an amount of tolerance of the ink obtained thereby or smaller. On the other hand, color error generated by forcibly forming the ink discharging region where the amount of the ink is set to the specified value is solved by adjusting the colors in the adjoining ink discharging region, by means of quantization processing such as an error diffusion processing. It is possible to thereby form an image with high quality by the simple constitution while the overflowing of the ink is suppressed. |
