PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improving method for producing an epoxide from an alkylene in the presence of oxygen and a reducing agent by which deactivation of a catalyst is decreased and yield of the epoxide is increased. SOLUTION: The method comprises oxidizing a hydrocarbon in the presence of oxygen, at least one reducing agent and the catalyst, and the purpose is attained by the method passing the reaction mixture through at least one catalyst-containing layer and at least one absorbent-containing layer for absorbing the epoxide. The catalyst-containing layer and the absorbent-containing layer are alternately arranged so that either one layer is positioned after other layer and the reaction mixture is passed through the catalyst-containing layer and then through the absorbent-containing layer.
