PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a planetary gear type automatic transmission having forward 6-step transmission stages. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission has two simple planetary gear assembly bodies 21, 22. A first motive power transmission shaft 31 is fixed on a solar gear S2. A second motive power transmission shaft 32 is fixed on a carrier C1 fixed on a ring gear R2 and supporting the planetary gear P1 free to rotate. A third motive power transmission shaft 33 is fixed on a solar gear S1. An output shaft 12 is fixed on a carrier C2 fixed on a ring gear R1 and supporting a planetary gear P2 free to rotate. An input shaft 11 is connected to the motive power transmission shafts 31-33 through clutches K1-K3, and motive power of the input shaft 11 is transmitted between the input shaft 11 and the respective clutches K1-K3 at a gear ratio larger than another motive power transmission shaft 33 with respect to the two motive power transmission shafts 31, 32 by an input side transmission.
