PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and easily perform chamfering work relating to an edge part of an element. SOLUTION: A plurality of elements 11 of a CVT belt are held between inner/outer side cylinder members 27, 29, the inner side cylinder member 27 is rotated about five degrees in a circumferential direction relating to the outer side cylinder member 29, the element 11 is inclined so as to place an internal/ external peripheral side in a position displaced from each other in the circumferential direction. In such a condition, a cylindrical tool main unit 41 of a tool 3 for polishing is inserted in an insertion recessed part 25 of the element 11, an edge part 21a in a saddle part 21 of the element 11 is polished by a polishing part 63 provided in the external peripheral side.
