PURPOSE: A process of producing polyester fiber having uniform fineness and physical properties while generating no curved fiber by preventing generation of a vortex by cooling air is provided, thereby preparing industrial fibers having high modulus and low shrinkage characteristics while at the same time high strength. CONSTITUTION: Solid state polymerized polyester chips having an intrinsic viscosity of 1.00 to 1.15 and a moisture rate of 30ppm or less are melted at 290 to 300deg.C, spun through a spinning pack(1) and a nozzle(2) and cooled in cooling air, the discharged filament is taken up at a speed of 2,000m/min or more to produce a polyester fiber. In the process, a vortex preventing plate(A) is installed at the upper position of a cooling area(3) disposed at the lower part of the nozzle.
