PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video tape contents related information recording system in which information about the contents of video, etc., is recorded on a video tape with a video tape recorder and the recorded information can be read on a terminal device such as a portable telephone system. SOLUTION: This recording system consists of: a terminal device (portable telephone system P or remote controller R) provided at least with a related information preparation means for preparing contents related information, a related information transmission means for transmitting the related information to the video tape recorder, a related information receiving means for receiving related information transmitted from the video tape recorder, and a display means for displaying the related information; and a video tape recorder (1) provided at least with a related information receiving means for receiving the related information transmitted from the terminal device, a related information recording means for recording the related information in a prescribed recording region (e.g. blanking interval) of the video tape, and a related information transmission means for reading the related information from the prescribed recording region of the video tape and transmitting the related information to the terminal device.
