PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape cartridge whose productivity can be enhanced and manufacturing cost can be reduced and by which deterioration of magnetic characteristics of a magnetic tape caused by a step generated at a joining part of a leader tape with a magnetic tape can be prevented. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape cartridge is characterized in that the leader tape is constituted of PEN (polyether nitrile) or aramid (aromatic polyamide), that the thickness of at least a part of a tip part of the leader tape is thicker than the thickness of the other part or that the leader tape has a step part for joining having thickness corresponding to the thickness of the magnetic tape added to the thickness of an adhesion layer on the side joining with the magnetic tape thereof and the leader tape and the tip part of the magnetic tape adhere to each other at the step part.
