PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine that can supervise causes to start the main power source in a simple configuration while suppressing power consumption in standby. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine is provided with the main power source 15; a main power source control section 16, a secondary battery 19, a solar battery 23 or the like. A microcomputer 17 of the main power source control section 16 is set to a sleep mode in standby, detects discharging of the secondary battery 19, key entry, presence of an original, hook-off of a handset and the presence of a call signal by means of timer interruption caused every one second and starts the main power source 16 according to the result of detection.
