PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool exerting excellent heat-resisting plastic deformation in high-speed cutting. SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide cutting tool is constituted by forming a hard coating layer made of (a) a Ti compound layer having average layer thickness of 3 to 20μm as a lower layer and made of laminated layers of one layer or two or more layers of a carbide layer, a nitride layer, a carbonitride layer, a carbon oxide layer and a carbon-nitrogen oxide layer of Ti formed by deposition, (b) a heating transformationαtype aluminum oxide layer having average layer thickness of 1 to 5μm as an intermediate layer, having a heating transformationαtype crystal structure from aκtype orθtype aluminum oxide layer formed by deposition and having a tissue uniformly dispersing and distributing heating transformation generation cracks, (c) an aluminum oxide layer formed by deposition to have average layer thickness of 2 to 10μm as an upper layer and aαtype crystal structure, and (d) a titanium nitride layer formed by deposition by average layer thickness of 0.5 to 2μm as a surface layer as necessary, on a surface of a tungsten carbide group cemented carbide base body.
