PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine ignition system improved in detecting accuracy and having superior fitting and mounting property. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine ignition system is provided with an ion current detecting circuit (ion current detector) 5, a waveform processing circuit 6 and an igniter 4. In order to eliminate the influence of wiring or the like, the ion current detecting circuit 5 and the waveform processing circuit 6 are integrated with an ignition coil 3 together with the igniter 4. On the other hand, the ion current detecting circuit 5 and the waveform processing circuit 6 are constituted by an integral package, or the ion current detecting circuit 5, the waveform processing circuit 6 and the igniter 4 are constituted of an integral package, to be integrated with the ignition coil 3.
