SELF-EMULSIFYING POLYISOCYANATE COMPOSITION AND WATER- BASED COATING MATERIAL USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-emulsifying polyisocyanate composition which comprises a water-dispersed polyisocyanate having a sufficient pot life and gives a coated film having a sufficient strength when it is used as a water-based coating material, and to provide the water-based coating material using the same. SOLUTION: The self-emulsifying polyisocyanate composition contains at least polyisocyanates (A): a polyisocyanate consisting of a polyisocyanate of isocyanurate-modified hexamethylene diisocyanate (A1) and at least a monool alkylene oxide (containing at least 30 mol% of ethylene oxide) adduct (A2) and (B): an allophanate group-containing polyisocyanate having an average functional group number of 2-3 and viscosity of <=500 mPa.s at 25 deg.C, by the mass ratio of (A):(B)=10/90-90/10 and is used for the water-based coating material. Preferably, the (B) is an allophanate-modified polyisocyanate obtained by reacting hexamethylene diisocyanate with an alcohol in the presence of a zirconium salt of a carboxylic acid.
