PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently resolve optically active substances. SOLUTION: This method for optical resolution includes a process for optical resolution for inserting an extraction agent for optical resolution and a diluent to the upper stage of a distillation column and a mixture of optical antipodes to the middle stage of the distillation column and extracting a distillate abound in one optical antipode from the overhead and a component abound in the other optical antipode from the lower stage and a process for purifying the distillate component extracted from the overhead of the extraction distillation column. In the method, the diluent and the optical antipodes have no azeotropic point. As the extraction agent for optical resolution, a cyclodextrin derivative and the like having an alkyl group and/or an ester group can be used. The method can be applied to the optical resolution of methyl 2-chloropropionate, epichlorohydrin and the like. |
