PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recorder capable of surely preventing deformation of a printed dot due to bleeding by a simple operation in a case of a staggered printing pattern. SOLUTION: When printing data of one line (128 dots) is for 64 dots, printing data for one independent dot and printing data for continuous two dots is extracted from the printing data of one line. Any dot to be printed having a dot to be printed at the next position but one is removed from the extracted dots to be printed and then the remaining dots are set as the printing data for heating (S1-S5). When printing data of one line is for dots of less than 64 and the ambient temperature is not higher than 20 deg.C, printing data for one independent dot is extracted from the printing of one line. A dot to be printed having a dot to be printed at the next position but one is removed from the extracted, dots to be printed and then the remaining dots are set as the printing data for heating (S7: YES-S9). When the temperature is not lower than 20 deg.C, the heating is not executed (S10).
