PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a multilayer rib knitted fabric through needle extraction knitting so as to make the needle loop sizes of knits and purls even. SOLUTION: This rib knitted fabric is produced through overlapping a front knitted fabric and rear knitted fabric on each other by needle extraction knitting using a flat knitting machine equipped with at least a pair of 1st and 2nd front and rear needle beds so that one or both of the needle beds are made slidable left and right, wherein the front knitted fabric is attached to the 1st needle bed while the rear knitted fabric to the 2nd needle bed, and the knitting practice comprises the steps of transferring the knits of the front knitted fabric simultaneously with the purls thereof between the front and rear needle beds and transferring the knits of the rear knitted fabric simultaneously with the purls thereof between the front and rear needle beds.
