METHOD FOR PRODUCING MONOAMIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method suitable for industrialization for producing a monoamide useful as a chelating agent in high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing an acid monoanhydride comprises a step for forming the acid monoanhydride of a polybasic carboxylic acid by reacting the polybasic carboxylic acid having at least four carboxy groups with an acid dianhydride of the acid in an organic solvent under an absolute condition. The method for producing the monoamide comprises the step for forming the acid monoanhydride of the polybasic carboxylic acid, and a step for forming the monoamide of the polybasic carboxylic acid by reacting the formed acid monoanhydride with amines (except a tertiary amine) in the organic solvent under the absolute condition.
