In a monorail switch in which the top face of a beam-shaped track forms the running surface 16 for the vehicle supporting wheels, each flank forms at least one running track for the vehicle guide wheels, and the switch consists of one or more rigid switch beam sections 1, 2 hinged together at 7 and to the parent track at 6, guide bands 9 for bridging the dihedral angles formed between the guide wheel tracks of adjacent deflected switch beam sections are supported from one or two points 12, 121 and 11, 111 on each switch beam section, at least one supporting point 121 of each guide being a stationary fixed bearing and the remaining supporting points 12, 11 and 111 being incorporated in longitudinally slidable bearings which permit the switch beam to be deflected to displace the guide bands 9 into a linear, Fig. 1, or continuously curved, Fig. 2, track section for the vehicle guide wheels. The guide bands 9 are fixed at the free deflectable end of the switch beam and the intermediate supporting points, such as 111, are supported on pins 17 engaged in slots in the guide bands 9. The ends of the guide band 9 near the ends of the parent track 4 are formed with fingers which interengage with fingers on the side bands of the parent track 4 to form a continuous junction.
