PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push-pull type exhaust apparatus, and its processing method for its optimum design with energy saving wherein a harmful substance such as metal fume produced in a molten metal crucible is completely removed. SOLUTION: A high performance push-pull type exhaust apparatus operable with minimum energy as follows. In the apparatus, a blow-off opening, the shape and size of a suction opening, and the position of the same on a design, and further the angle of the suction aperture, and the blow-off flow rate and suction flow rate are taken as design items. Three-dimensional numerical simulation is performed under conditions of the rate of production of a given harmful substance and the amount of heat at a production source, and it is finally estimated whether or not energies of blow-off power and suction power are minimum by repeating the correction of the angle of the suction aperture and of the other design items applying the law of momentum until a proper flow with which the harmful substance is completely removed is formed.
