PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of omitting most of installing work of a main rope at site. SOLUTION: In this elevator device, a hoistway is dividedly constituted as a plurality of units 1-1, and 1-2. A car 4 and a counterweight 5 are temporarily fixed (71, and 72) to and incorporated into the uppermost part unit 1-1, and the main rope 6 having the prescribed length is positioned and arranged in a prescribed position of the car 4 and the counterweight 5 in the uppermost part unit 1-1.
