SOLUTION: This device is set in a state that a book type original positioning means 5 to a align the page parting line 201a of a scanning area 201 set on a contact glass 3 in accordance with the size of the book type original 101 with the boundary 101a of the opened page of the book type original 101 is arranged within the scanning area 201 and also the book type original positioning means 5 does not exist within the scanning feasible area of the image reading means 4.
