PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tackifier emulsion with enhanced heat resistance and good mechanical stability without detriment to self-adhesive properties. SOLUTION: The tackifier resin emulsion comprises a tackifier resin dispersed in water using an emulsifier, where the emulsifier is a polymer obtained by saponifying a copolymer having a brittle temperature of 110-150 deg.C. The emulsifier is a saponified product of a copolymer obtained by reacting a hydrophobic monomer, for example, styrenes, or (meth)acrylate esters with a polymerizable unsaturated organic acid such as unsaturated carboxylic acids, or unsaturated sulfonic acids. The use of the emulsifier gives to the tackifier resin emulsion advantages that it exhibits excellent self-adhesive properties and heat resistance and that it can secure the heat resistance even when a rosin tackifier resin whose softening point is not so high is employed.
