PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a detergent which can improve the handling properties of a surface active agent paste, can prevent the attachment of the surface active agent paste inside the piping for transportation within a factory, and also can prevent the deterioration of an anionic surface active agent when an anionic surface active agent precursor is neutralized. SOLUTION: The process for producing the detergent comprises the step of mixing the surface active agent paste with the anionic surface active agent precursor to obtain a mixed paste and the step of neutralizing the mixed paste.
