PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable combustion performance by making small an overshoot where a temperature is raised higher than the control temperature of an evaporator, keeping the temperature of the evaporator at a target temperature, reducing change of pressure within the evaporator, and reducing change of concentration of ejected gas, in a combustion hot air heater wherein the temperature of the evaporator is maintained by controlling on/off time of energization of an evaporator heater. SOLUTION: The combustion hot air heater comprises a temperature detector provided on the evaporator of a combustion section, the evaporator heater for heating the evaporator, and a control circuit having a microcomputer for controlling evergization of the heater. A control section makes such a control that, only when the temperature detector has transmitted the temperature of the evaporator during stable combustion to the microcomputer and the microcomputer has outputted an energization command for the control of maintaining the temperature of the evaporator, the microcomputer energizes the heater according to the command of energization on/off time set for each of combustion levels outputted from the microcomputer starting from on-time, and interrupts enerigization according to an energization-interruption command outputted from the microcomputer preferentially over the command of enerigization on/off time.
