OPTICAL WRITING UNIT AND IMAGING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical writing unit using an optical shutter, capable of achieving a high quality imaging operation. SOLUTION: A light emitted from a substantially linear light source 12 such as an LED array is converted to a light profile close to an ideal linear light source via a sheet-like light transmitting medium 11 so as to be transmitted to an optical shutter array in the optical writing head 11. Since the optical shutter array illumination light amount irregularity is reduced dramatically, a high quality electrostatic latent image can be formed on a photosensitive drum 10.
