PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planting device for planting a stem of a lianoid seedling in a state nearly parallel to the top surface of a ridge in a vegetable transplanter. SOLUTION: This vegetable transplanter is equipped with a planting frame 47 supporting a planting device 31 so as to be movable to the front and rear relatively to an operating frame 33 composed so as to be vertically liftable and lowerable from a traveling machine body 2 and the planting frame 47 is intermittently driven to the front and rear. In the vegetable transplanter, a planting claw 87 provided in the planting device 31 is further intermittently and vertically driven relatively to the planting frame 47. The timing of the resting of the forward and rear movement of the planting frame 47 and the resting of the vertical movement of the planting claw 87 is shifted to form nearly horizontal parts 120a and 120b in the topmost position and the lowermost position of a locus 120 of a nipping point for the seedling of the planting claw 87.
