The invention comprises disperse azo dyes of formula wherein D is the radical of a diazo component of the benzene, azobenzene, anthraquinone, thiadiazole or benzisothiazole series, R is CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , 2.hydroxyethyl or -propyl, 2-hydroxy-3-chloropropyl or 2-acetoxy-ethyl or -propyl, R<SP>1</SP> is CH 3 or C 2 H 5 , X is H, Cl, Br, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 or OCH 3 and Y is H or CH 3 . The dyes are prepared by coupling a diazotized D.NH 2 with an appropriate 3-acylamino-diphenylamine. Preferred mixtures of dyes are obtained by using as coupling components a mixture of diphenylamines wherein R is as defined above and wherein R is H. The dyes are used to colour polyester fibres in red, blue and brown shades.
