PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display module and a liquid crystal display having the module are provided to reduce the size and weight of the liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display module(900) includes a light generator(530,540) for generating light, a light guide(520) for guiding the light generated by the light generator to a display unit(300) for displaying images, and a chassis(800) for accommodating the light generator and the light guide. The liquid crystal display module further includes guide frames(600,700) combined with the first two opposite sides of the chassis to guide accommodation positions of the light generator and the light guide. The light generator is placed at one of the other two opposite sides of the chassis, perpendicular to the first two opposite sides. The chassis is composed of a bottom face and side walls. The first opposite sides combined with the guide frames are partially opened.
