PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a ring transmission system with high efficiency by allocating circuit settings as needed but not fixed, on a ring transmission path, concerning with a ring communication system in which multiple communication devices are connected with a ring transmission path providing multiple circuits and neighboring communication devices are connected with branch paths. SOLUTION: A communication device which composes a ring communication system is comprised of a sending device identification part which signifies a sending source's communication device after extracting an identification number received through the ring transmission path, a variable circuit configuration part which selects circuit setting data corresponding to the source's communication device identified by the sending device identification part, providing multiple circuits setting data for the source's communication device, and a detachment/ insertion part, which detaches and inserts a specified circuit and a main signal according to the circuit setting datum selected by the variable circuit configuration part and has a time switch which shifts sequences of the main signal specified by the variable circuit configuration part in inserting.
