PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device in which operation of each process can be assured without being interrupted and allotting of most efficient memory can be carried out. SOLUTION: In the image processing device in which a plurality of image forming processes are operated, the minimum quantity of image memory that is necessary for each process is calculated beforehand, the calculated necessary quantity of image memory is reserved when a system is started and the quantity of the image memory reserved by each process is varied according to the unused memory capacity in the device. When the minimum quantity of the image memory that is necessary is 8MB for a process A, 12MB for a process B and 4MB for a process C, when the image memory of 12MB is normally used by the process A, the 8MB image memory 121A for the process A and the 4MB image memory 121FA from a free image memory 121F are reserved.
