<p>A multifunctional third row seating (16) for a motor vehicle (10) is capable of moving between two seating positions as well as moving between split passenger seating configurations and between seating and storage positions. In the storage position the third row seating (16) forms a true flat floor and can be used in combination with a stored second row seating (14) to maximize the cargo carrying capacity of the vehicle (10) by providing a flat floor from behind a first or front row seating assembly (12) to a rear wall (8) of a passenger compartment (6). The third row seating (16) includes two seat assemblies (300) each having a seat cushion (24) and a backrest (26) coupled to it and mounted to the vehicle such that the third row seating (16) can be moved between a forward and a rearward seating position. Each seat cushion (24) is also latched such that it can be released and flipped over about a front longitudinal axis to fit into a foot rest area of the vehicle and the backrest (26) is arranged to be folded forward so as to lie behind the folded seat cushion (24) to form a flat floor. The backrest (26) is arranged to move rearward as it is folded forward to permit its storage behind the folded seat cushion (24).</p> |
