Device comprises an infrared sensitive television camera for acquisition of infrared images of the object surface. The temperature range is fixed by the camera shutter, camera parameters, filter, etc. The output of the camera is passed to analysis electronics. The camera is black and white and the electronics determine the temperature from the gray values. A virtual color representation of the temperature distribution can be created.
