When the toilet is used in a seated position by a man, urine can be guided through the gap (7) located between the rim of the toilet bowl (6) and the lower side of the toilet seat (1) soiling the outer surface of the bowl (6) as well as the clothes of the user and the floor around the toilet. The new design of a toilet seat (1) is provided with a downwards pointing splash guard (2) either at the front or positioned around the whole of the inner edge (3) in order to keep the gap (7) covered.
