A seat belt pretensioner in which a seat belt and a buckle can be pulled in greatly with a short stroke because the buckle is displaced to be pulled in by urging the intermediate part of a wire and thereby the pretensioner can be made compact. Since the center of pulling in the buckle is fixed by a wire guide, the buckle or the seat belt can be pulled in stably and the reliability is enhanced. When a piston rod is projected by generating high pressure gas, for example, a high gas pressure can be generated with a small apparatus and thereby the size and weight can be prevented from increasing. When a shock absorbing structure for absorbing the working energy of an actuator gradually is provided in the vicinity of the work end point of the actuator, the buckle can be prevented from self-releasing with an impact when it is pulled in abruptly thus removing the belt and since a large impact force is not transmitted, as a reaction, to the pretensioner itself, the shock absorbing structure is advantageous in design of strength, contributes to weight reduction, eliminates impact sound and enhances silence of operation.
|
