A flatbed knitting machine comprising a compound needle and having an improved loop pressing function and an improved edge-loop yarn capturing function given by improving the yarn-feeding condition. An end part 12 of a loop presser 11 moving projectingly into a tooth aperture 10 has an edge-loop yearn capturing portion 13 and a loop presser portion 14. The edge-loop yarn capturing portion 13 hides a tongue 25a from the yarn 22 at a wall portion 15 above the edge-loop yarn capturing portion 13 so that the problem, yarn catching, that the yarn 22 fed to a hook 24a of the compound needle 23 from a yarn feeding port 20 may not move onto the tongue 25a may be solved. A pressing portion 16 below the edge-loop yarn capturing portion 13 presses the yarn 22. The edge-loop yarn capturing portion 13 captures the yarn 22 outside the edge loop by winding it around it. The loop presser portion 14 presses the yarn 22 during the knitting. While hiding the tongue 25a of the needle 23 of the edge loop at the wall portion 15, the yarn 22 can be guided into the hook 24a reliably by causing a loop presser portion 14 of another loop presser 11 to act.
