The layer arrangement (5) has a reference layer (6) deposited on a substrate. This has a magnetization (m2) not affected by the direction of an external field (B). On top of this is a non-magnetic conductive layer (4) topped by a detector layer (2). The latter has a magnetization (m1) always in parallel to the external field. In plan view the layer arrangement forms a meander.
