The brake consists of a metal disc (1) rotated by the vehicle wheel with friction elements (2) applied to friction tracks (11, 12) on its opposite faces that delimit an annular volume with cylindrical inner and outer surfaces of smaller and larger radius respectively. The brake is cooled by a cooling liquid that has a boiling point below the maximum operating temperature of the disc, sprayed into a rectangular U-section groove (32) in the disc's inner edge. The cooling liquid can be an aqueous solution or water, cooling the disc as it is vaporised by the disc's heat. |
