PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display in which disclination is restrained from being generated when the alignment of the first substrate with the second substrate is deviated in the horizontal direction. SOLUTION: The width of the light shielding part BM-R formed on the video signal line Xn+1 side of a pixel electrode PIX is made wider than that of the light shielding part BM-L formed on the adjacent video signal line Xn side when the crossing angle θ of the rubbing direction DIR on an alignment layer with the extended line of the video signal line X is obtuse clockwise on the principal surface of the first substrate SUB1. The width of the light shielding part BM-L formed on the video signal line Xn side of the pixel electrode PIX is made wider than that of the light shielding part BM-R formed on the adjacent video signal line Xn+1 side when the crossing angle θ of the rubbing direction DIR is an acute angle in the clockwise direction. |
