PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master cylinder constituted so that inner stress is not concentrated in a pressurizing chamber of housing, and the pressurizing chamber is made strong. SOLUTION: The master cylinder has a plurality of protrusions 2e which projects inside radially and guides a piston 6 in the axial direction of the inner wall of the pressurizing chamber 10 in the housing wherein the piston 6 of a master cylinder 1 slides, and a plurality of recessed parts 2f formed between protrusions 2e adjacent each other, wherein the peripheral direction length L1 of the recessed part 2f in the peripheral direction of the housing 2 is made longer than the peripheral direction length L2 of the protrusion 2e.
