Workpieces are transferred from the spindle of an automatic lathe (not shown) to a collector 14 by a device 8 carried at a turret station. The turret is advanced to engage the device 8 with the workpiece at the parting-off stage, the turret is then retracted and rotated through 180 degrees during which the device 8 passes upwardly through rubber flaps in the base of the collector. On forward movement of the turret the workpiece is stripped from the device by a pair of spring plates on the front of the collector. The device 8 may engage the workpiece either internally or externally and is slidably engaged with a freely rotatable sleeve 3 and pressed outwardly by a spring 7. |
