PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dispersion and high-order dispersion optical pulse compensating method and device capable of performing long-distance transmission. SOLUTION: This dispersion and high-order dispersion optical pulse compensating method propagates a signal light pulse in a medium having secondary dispersion, converts the signal light pulse into a signal light pulse holding waveform chirp, also makes the signal light pulse holding this linear chirp incident on a phase modulator, performs phase modulation with an electric signal that multiplexes an n-hold sine wave signal having one time, two times, three times, four times, ... n times as high as the frequency of the signal light pulse and compensates for waveform distortion of optical pulse caused by secondary, tertiary, fourth order, fifth order dispersions. |
