PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor and a method for manufacturing the photoreceptor having high printing durability, scratch resistance and resistance against environmental changes. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor having a surface protective layer 5, the surface protective layer 5 comprises a layer formed by applying and hardening a composition essentially containing silica particles and a photopolymerization initiator. The silica particles are coupled through silyloxy groups with an organic compound having one or more kinds of groups selected from polymerizable unsaturated groups and groups expressed by formula (4) and by formula (5). Further, a chemical adsorption film 6 is formed on the surface of the surface protective layer 5 through siloxane bonds by using at least one kind in organosilane compounds.
