PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating hermetic compressor having a discharge pulsation reducing structure allowing reducing vibration and noises and lowering starting voltage and power consumption at the same time. SOLUTION: This reciprocating hermetic compressor comprises a cylinder block, a cylinder head fixed on the cylinder block via a valve plate for forming a discharge chamber, a first discharge muffle communicated with the discharge chamber by a discharge passage formed in the valve plate and the cylinder block, and a second discharge muffler communicated with the first discharge muffler by a connection pipe at one side and connected with a discharge pipe at the other side. The connection pipe has two or more passages in the middle part and joins into a single passage at both ends.
