PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent duplicative ordering of consumables in an imaging apparatus arranged to order consumables automatically based on the residual quantity thereof. SOLUTION: Residual quantity of toner in a process cartridge containing a specified quantity of consumables being consumed through imaging is detected and when the residual quantity is lower than a specified level, a system for ordering the process cartridge is actuated automatically. In order to prevent duplicative ordering of the same cartridge, the number of pixels being recorded is counted from a moment in time (tL) when the residual quantity is detected and actuation of the ordering system is prohibited during a period (Th) where the integrated count does not exceed a specified value.
