PURPOSE: A method of processing a dying gasp of an external digital subscriber line communication terminal is provided to sense a state of an Ethernet port connected to a personal computer, and to process a dying gasp when the state becomes inactive, thereby enabling accuracy and reliability. CONSTITUTION: When a state of an Ethernet port becomes active by a connection between a PC and an Ethernet link, an Ethernet link sensing module senses the active state(400), and checks whether the Ethernet port becomes inactive(402). If a user completes the use of XDSL and turns off the PC, the Ethernet port becomes inactive by completing the connection between the PC and a CPE(Customer Premise Equipment). The Ethernet link sensing module informs a dying gasp processing module of the inactive state(402). The dying gasp processing module responds to the information and processes a dying gasp(404).
