PURPOSE: A method for reproducing control information of a recording medium, and a recording medium therefor are provided to promptly refer to video CD data by forming data tracks on an utmost outer periphery of a disk, thereby minimizing access time in reproducing at an outer periphery of the disk. CONSTITUTION: A lead-in area(100) stores information of each track existing on a disk. A first video data CD area(101) is formed at an inner periphery centering around a program area(102), and stores information necessary for reproducing MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) audio/video tracks. The program area stores MPEG audio/video to be actually reproduced. A second video data CD area(103) is formed at an outer periphery centering around the program area, and stores information necessary for reproducing the MPEG audio/video tracks. A lead-out area(104) is formed at an utmost outer periphery, having no data.
