PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser that can maintain superior light emission characteristics, even under harsh environments. SOLUTION: A nearly U-shaped cap 4, having a side opening 41, is mounted to a stem 1 where a laser diode 2 and a light-receiving element 3 are mounted, and a hologram element 5 is mounted on a window 43 of the cap. Air inside the cap 4 is exchanged with air in the outside via the side opening 41, and the laser diode 2 is cooled efficiently, thus maintaining proper light emission characteristics, even in high-temperature and under harsh environments for the semiconductor laser. |
